Launch of the Enviro-Hub

The IPCC's special report on Global Warming (2018) highlighted the importance of a coordinated effort to change the behaviour of individuals, institutions and governments for climate change mitigation and adaptation. To be a part of this effort, we invited members of UCL and other organisations to join a new network for environmental behaviour change.

The Enviro-Hub was launched on 21st February 2019 at UCL and attended by researchers, professionals and students from across UCL and beyond. The event was opened by Prof Nick Tyler, Chadwick Professor of Civil Engineering, Prof Chris Rapley, Professor of Climate Science, and Prof Susan Michie, Director of the UCL Centre for Behaviour Change.

This first meeting of the Enviro-Hub aimed to give people a chance to meet colleagues they had never worked with before, and to shape the aims, activities and outputs of the Hub. There were over 50 ideas relating to:

  • Big Issues: The kinds of environmental and societal problems that the Enviro-Hub aims to address
  • Objectives: The main activities and outputs that the Enviro-Hub could facilitate
  • Starting at UCL: Building on the wealth of opportunities within UCL and our existing networks to test new ideas and champion effective solutions
