Professor Susan Michie

Professor Susan Michie is Director of the CBC, Professor of Health Psychology and co-Director of the MSc in Behaviour Change at UCL. 

A world leader in behavioural science, her research focuses on understanding behaviour change theoretically, developing methods for designing effective interventions and translating evidence into practice and policy. Professor Michie developed the Behaviour Change Wheel framework and leads the Human Behaviour Change Project  and has several policy responsibilities, including co-Director of NIHR’s Behavioural Science Policy Research Unit and chairing a Food Standards Agency scientific committee.

Angel Chater

Professor Angel Marie Chater 

Professor Angel Chater is Co-Director of the CBC.

With her career spanning over 20 years in health psychology, Angel’s research, teaching, training and practice centres around the interplay between health psychology and public health. Focusing on the optimisation of health and wellbeing through behaviour change interventions, Angel has co-authored over 170 peer-reviewed publications and reports, and has been awarded over £5million in research income, extending pragmatic science in areas such as physical activity and sedentary behaviour interventions and the application of the Behaviour Change Wheel in real-world practice. She has been affiliated to the CBC since its inception, contributing to the international training programme, bespoke training and consultancy.

Dr Fabiana Lorencatto

Dr Fabiana Lorencatto is the CBC’s Research Lead. 

Dr Lorencatto has extensive experience in applying behavioural science theories and frameworks to design behaviour change interventions aimed at changing behaviours of healthcare professionals to improve clinical practice. Dr Lorencatto is the behavioural science lead on a number of multidisciplinary, international projects related on topics such as maternal health, infection prevention control, antimicrobial resistance, diabetes and transfusion medicine.

Dr Louise Atkins

Dr Louise Atkins is Lecturer Teaching (Online Training) for the CBC.

Dr Atkins is a researcher, trainer and consultant in behaviour change intervention design and evaluation. Dr Atkins coordinates the Intermediate course and Advanced modules of CBC’s International Training Programme and leads CBC's Australasian Hub. Dr Atkins’s is co-author of the book Behaviour Change Wheel: A Guide to Designing Interventions

Dr Kristina Curtis

Dr Kristina Curtis is the Lecturer Teaching (Bespoke Training) for the CBC.

Dr Kristina Curtis is a behavioural scientist with a multidisciplinary background spanning across industry, research, teaching, training and consultancy. Dr Curtis leads the CBC’s bespoke training courses and webinar series.

Dr Curtis’s primary research interests are in the development and evaluation of mHealth interventions and in particular, how the convergence of behavioural science and UX design promotes effective engagement.

Leslie Gutman
Professor Leslie Gutman

Leslie Gutman is Professor of Applied Developmental and Health Psychology and Programme Director of the MSc Behaviour Change.

Professor Gutman’s research interests include developmental transitions in adolescence and young adulthood, the study of risk and resilience, mental health and wellbeing, aspirations and attainment and school-based interventions. Professor Gutman is Senior Research Associate for the Early Intervention Foundation (EIF) and Associate Editor of the Journal of Adolescence.

Dr Danielle D’Lima

Dr Danielle D’Lima is Senior Teaching Fellow for the MSc Behaviour Change.

Dr D’Lima’s research has focused on the influence of performance feedback on professional behaviour change in healthcare, and how interactions between different types of evidence and processes at the professional and organisational level influence decisions to introduce or roll out innovations in health care. Her main focus of enquiry is currently applying behavioural science to educational issues.

Abril Herrera is the CBC Training, Events and Communications Manager.

Abril has a multidisciplinary background and broad experience in UX design, citizen science and public engagement. She is particularly interested in strengthening the communication channels and improving the interaction among different stakeholders such as researchers, citizens and decision-makers.

Behaviour Change Consortium 

  1. To establish current activity across UCL in the field of behaviour change in relation to sustainability and health 
  2. To increase the visibility of this work and raise the global profile of UCL in the area of behaviour change  
  3. To advance interdisciplinary collaborative thinking and activities in behaviour change research, teaching and knowledge translation 
  4. To translate thinking, evidence and research into real-world impact, aligned with the 2022-2027 strategy and contributing to UCL’s 2034 strategy. This will include applying behaviour change expertise to enhance the cultural and operational life at UCL.
