Elena Méndez-Piedra Paredes

After being awarded an Honors diploma in her Baccalaureate in Spain, Elena earned her BA Two Modern Languages (French and German) with Translation Studies at the University of Hull. During her time at university she spent a year abroad as part of the Erasmus program undertaking a work placement in France and studying at the University of Potsdam, Germany. Being an active member at the University of Hull, Elena was elected European Representative as well as German course representative and she worked as a student ambassador and a language ambassador. Elena also has experience teaching English and Spanish. She volunteered at the Language Learning Centre at the University of Hull assisting Spanish students and staff with their language skills.  After she finished her studies, Elena worked as a group leader being responsible for groups of high school students during study exchanges to the UK and Ireland. She also spent a month volunteering for different NGOs in Guatemala, teaching children and teenagers and helping doctors to carry out child health days.  She worked at Middlesex University as the Erasmus International Credit Mobility Coordinator before she joined the BASc department at UCL in August 2018.
