Three Dimensional Real-Time Computer Based Space Syntax Analysis

Current ‘space syntax’ representations are limited to the two-dimensional plan form, and to analyzing existing configurations. While these have proved effective, so far as human cognitive capacity is concerned it seems likely that the three dimensional view will prove important.
Architects make use of volumetric space to great effect in atria spaces, and in urban space landmarks and topography require the third dimension to be represented and analysed. Equally important to the development of 3d tools is real time based analysis and the integration of generative design with analytical evaluations.
This research project developed a set of experimental computer models and tools in order to address these subjects.
