Bartlett University Institutes Learning and Development in Circular Construction Doctoral Network
Bartlett University Institutes Learning and Development in Circular Construction (BUILD-CC) is a new doctoral network led by PhD students.
About
BUILD-CC is a new doctoral network led by PhD students Shan Gao (The Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction) and Alexander Dhesi (The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources).
Definitions
We define 'Circular Construction' as a systems led transformation in the way we construct and deconstruct buildings and infrastructure - reclaiming materials from existing buildings as they are decommissioned and turning them into products which can be used again.
Research
Our research interests apply circular economy principles to the construction sector, in efforts to reduce the environmental impacts of building. The purpose of the network is to stimulate discussions, collaborations and learning opportunities for UCL staff and students on the topic of circular construction, while building connections with other academic institutions and the construction sector.
Forum
Each term, members can attend the BUILD-CC forum to discuss their current research and projects, share success stories and challenges, and exchange reading material. We welcome presentations from researchers and industry practitioners on relevant topics. This summer, we will be running a site visit and launching the first iteration of the BUILD-CC research exchange conference.
Become a member
The network is accepting membership applications from UCL MSc and PhD students, UCL staff, researchers at other universities and industry practitioners willing to contribute to discussions and events. Membership is free of charge, please join the mailing list by completing the survey below.
