Pre-1919 un-insulated suspended timber ground floors: estimating insitu heat-loss

My research interests revolve around the legacy of the existing housing stock and in particular the most effective methods of insulating suspended timber ground floors in pre-1919 UK dwellings. My PhD investigates the heatloss of such floors; how to best reduce this heat-loss and what any unintended hygrothermal consequences of insulating such floors might be.

I am undertaking in-situ heat-loss measurements alongside longitudinal monitoring of floor void conditions in both insulated and uninsulated floors. I am investigating different methods of reducing heat loss from suspended timber ground floors and aim to provide a solutions-based approach to insulating such ground floors.
