This interdisciplinary research project focuses on the mapping of contemporary community food initiatives in London and their role in the development of sustainable food systems. The project employs a number of students to conduct 20 case studies, and is at the moment engaged in analysing the findings, initially for the final report. Another deliverable is a co-written peer-reviewed paper, which we are now developing: this will explore some interesting findings of the research around the relationship between on the one hand the ‘co-op spirit’ and on the other, the sometimes-restrictive institutional frameworks.
