This half-day workshop at The Bartlett Real Estate Institute near Stratford will bring together academics and practitioners interested in India’s Smart Cities programme, and the opportunities for sharing good practice between our two countries. After introductory presentations contrasting the goals of Britain’s Building Better, Building Beautiful with President Modi’s A Hundred Smart Cities programme, and the challenges for sustainable and healthier growth in mid-sized cities, the workshop will consider the potential for learning from each other’s policies and experience.
Curated workshops will address:
Transport, pollution and public health
Housing, affordability and sustainability
Property finance and private investment
The results will feed into a new initiative by UCL to build relationships with Indian cities, and an action research project by The URBED Trust on Smarter Urbanisation and Rapid Growth.
The workshop is free so please register your interest early as places are limited. A briefing pack will be sent to all those registering.
