This scoping review on Construction and Demolition Waste Management (CDW) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) explored how Brazil's construction waste management practices can advance the UN's 2030 Agenda, and addressed a critical gap in understanding how CDW strategies can advance sustainability targets in the Global South.
It mapped critical linkages between CDW and multiple SDG targets—particularly SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation & Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption & Production), and SDG 15 (Life on Land). The framework organised challenges and opportunities across social, economic, technical, and environmental dimensions.
The research by Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction PhD Candidate, Flavio Pinheiro Martins and fellow authors Amilton Barbosa Botelho Junior, Olav Bjerke Soldal, and Nelson Oliveira Stefanelli was published in Sustainable Development journal in October 2025.
