The European Parliament has embarked on a major investigation into the causes of the EU affordability crisis: the HOUS Committee.
As part of their evidence gathering, they called on UCL IIPP Professor Josh Ryan-Collins as well as Professor Daniela Gabor from SOAS to give evidence on the financialisation of the European housing market.
Unfortunately, the first draft of its report proposing solutions neglects these issues, arguing that more private sector development and financing is the main solution.
As a result, Professors Ryan-Collins and Gabor have sent a letter to the parliamentarians concerned, which can be viewed here.
