Daniel Wainwright

Daniel Wainwright is a student in the 2020-21 cohort of UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP)'s Master of Public Administration (MPA).

Daniel is a researcher and writer interested in the climate transition and new economic paradigms. He believes that government can be a force for good, but that it needs new ways of working - open, inclusive, and enabling - to successfully address the problems we face today. He thinks that relationships and trust should be at the heart of the public sector, and that local governments and communities have a particularly important role to play in navigating this complexity.

He is currently working for Dark Matter Labs, supporting various cities to develop a portfolio of strategic experiments that demonstrate new pathways for the climate transition. He has also worked as a researcher with IIPP on their PELICAN project, exploring the implementation of Greater Manchester's mission-oriented approach to green growth. Prior to that, he has worked as a maths teacher, a consultant, and a strategy associate at the National Citizen Service (NCS).
