Learn more about the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP) Executive Education programme.

MPA fieldwork

At the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP), we centre revived notions of public value and public purpose in our teaching, research and policy practice. Our work equips leaders to co-design growth that is innovation-led, sustainable, and inclusive.

In 2020, IIPP launched its closed custom executive education programme, welcoming groups of experienced practitioners from around the globe to work with our faculty. There is no equivalent custom programme that combines our ambitious approaches to policy making and a focus on structural change and innovation.

IIPP brings to executive programmes a track record of global policy impact, leading thinkers on innovation and governance, and a global network of mission-oriented organisations; by taking part in our executive education programmes, students become part of the IIPP movement!

Programme design

Executive Education at IIPP brings together the Institute’s proven global impact, new agendas for public service education, and its growing peer-learning platform for public sector organisations. Our programmes emphasise the dynamic capabilities required in the public sector to tackle the grand challenges of the 21st century.

IIPP currently provides closed custom programmes tailored towards a partner’s needs and context. This means that we work closely with a partner organisation to design the course and its objectives. To date, we have worked with partners in the public, private, and non-profit sectors, engaging groups of 20-100 participants.

These bespoke programmes vary in length and size, and can combine lectures, tutorials, and guided work, as well as the use of online platforms to chat and share insights, depending on needs. At present, all our executive education programmes are taking place online.

For professionals who wish to study while working, we offer our one-year MPA programme on both part time (2 years) or on a flexible (5 year) timeframes as well as a PhD programme. More information on our flagship MPA programme may be found here. As our executive education programme grows, we hope to begin offering open and executive MPA programmes.

Participants will be invited to join the UCL IIPP Alumni Network. More testimonials from our alumni about the programme coming soon.

The National School of Government (NSG) South Africa and the University College London Resumes the Executive Education Programme for South Africa’s Government Officials.

This partnership for training and development unfolds in the context of people-to-people exchanges with leading institutions in the global South and the global North. The blended virtual programme will advance participants’ understanding of the role of the state in driving inclusive and sustainable growth; critically apprising global models of development and governance and taking pragmatic action to addressing core challenges of governance and government reforms.
