Julius Mugwagwa, Lecturer in Innovation and Development at UCL STEaPP
The workshop will look at how public organisations can create dynamic capabilities to tackle societal ‘missions’ through investment and innovation. Focus will be on the challenges faced by organisations in different contexts (sectoral and geographic) in planning, creating and evaluating public goods, and the broader concept of ‘public value’.
The workshop aims to help develop a framework and a toolkit for dynamic capabilities in the public sector based on the need to co-shape and co-create markets (not only ‘fix’ them), and to do so through ‘public purpose’ and mission oriented innovation.
Such a market shaping policy framework can strengthen public organisations as partners for private and third sector organisations and for the development of new social contracts to drive inclusive innovation.
Please register for the workshop with Veena Dhulipala . A full breakdown of the event can be downloaded here.
Prof Mazzucato will also be a panellist at the 2018 Ibrahim Forum on the theme of 'Public sevices in 21st century Africa', on the 28th April, in Session 2: Assessing the supply. More details about the Forum here.
