Design process and techniques
Graphic representation through the use of diagrams and mapping, but also understanding how to analyse graphic documents such as historic maps, development plans and frameworks and being able to prepare graphic reports and other visual outputs to professional standards are core skills for both planning and urban design disciplines.
The essence of Design as a process can be distilled into four core phases:
- Analysis
- Concept Visualisation
- Detailed Design
- Presentation
Below, you will find links to four separate pages looking in more depth at each phase and complemented with downloadable handouts to get you acquainted with the various processes and techniques that are available.
