Biography

I hold a PhD and a Master's Degree in Infrastructure Planning from the Bartlett School of Planning (BSP), University College London (UCL), and a Master’s and a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Udine (Italy).

I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and, since 2012, I have been involved in several teaching programmes and courses at both Bachelor's and Master's levels. Currently, I am a member of the teaching staff for the MSc Programme in Infrastructure Planning, Appraisal and Development (IPAD) at the BSP, and I coordinate and teach the following modules:

  • Critical Issues in Infrastructure Funding, Financing & Investment (BPLN0027);
  • Infrastructure Policy, Planning and Consent (BPLN0028);
  • Major Infrastructure Planning Practice (BPLN0030).

My research interests lie primarily in the fields of transport and infrastructure planning; urban governance and complexity in decision-making; strategic thinking and policy formulation; infrastructure funding and finance; logistics; sustainability science; and the use of quantitative and qualitative appraisal/evaluation tools and techniques in planning and development.

Since 2011, I have taken part in a number of research projects and consultancy studies, including European research projects funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, and consultancy assignments for the European Investment Bank, the UK's HM Treasury and the UK's National Infrastructure Planning Association.
