National Model Design Code, Monitoring and Evaluation: Matthew Carmona leads new research project

Prof Matthew Carmona is leading a team including Valentina Giordano, Wendy Clarke and Brian Quinn to evaluate the the fifteen design code pilots currently being conducted across England.  Funded by the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) and facilitated by the Planning Advisory Service, the project involves following the teams over a six month period to evaluate the process of developing design codes and the success or otherwise of the new national guidance on the subject.  The findings will feed into the early work programme of the newly established Office for Place.
