Overview
Funded by the European Union URBAT programme
HOPUS brought academics and practitioners together from Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal and the UK to discuss questions of design and sustainability in housing and its regulation through public sector guidance and control.
The project focused in particular on design coding as a tool for delivering better design in Europe's suburban areas, and compared practice and experiences across the continent. Matthew Carmona acted as lead expert for the HOPUS Working Group which was spearheaded by Sapienza, University of Rome.
