The fifth seminar in the Public Research Seminar series, titled "Sensorial and Affective Urbanisms," is part of the UCL ChangeMakers funded project MRes InterConnect: Bridging Interdisciplinary Communities and Frontline Research. This seminar dives into the sensorial and emotional dimensions of urban design. Dr. Filipa Wunderlich, serving as the discussant, steers the seminar towards understanding how urban environments impact our senses and emotions. Samantha Leger's research focuses on the social aspects of walking and its influence on the perceived walkability of urban spaces, proposing a shift from merely walkable to sociable urban environments. Delia Bermeo Maria presents on community art in Latin America, exploring its power as a catalyst for socio-spatial transformation, emphasising the role of creativity and participatory art in urban renewal. Siti Syamimi Binti Omar's presentation, "Finding Happiness: A Human-Centred Urban Design Approach to the Experience of Urban Happiness, A Malaysian Case," delves into the relationship between urban design and the experience of happiness, offering insights from a Malaysian context.
