Congratulations to Ning Sun, a doctoral researcher at the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, who has received the International Project Management Association (IPMA) Best Student Paper Award in the Projects and Society track at the EURAM 2026 Conference.
The award-winning paper ‘How Can Performing Paradox Shape Project Value Creation?’ was co-authored with Ning’s supervisors, Dr Jean Xu and Prof. Martina Huemann.
By examining project value creation through a paradox lens, the study contributes to ongoing discussions around sustainability, governance and decision-making in the built environment.
Presented by the IPMA, the award recognises outstanding student research that advances the theory and practice of project management.
This recognition highlights the significance of the team’s research in addressing contemporary challenges in complex projects.
I'm honoured to receive this recognition from IPMA. I'd like to thank my supervisors, Jean Xu and Martina Huemann, for their invaluable guidance throughout this research, the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction and Project Hub for providing such a supportive environment to pursue this work. I'm also grateful to IPMA and EURAM for creating this platform to recognise and encourage early-career researchers in the project management field.
