Nominations are now open to recognise Mid-Career Researchers (MCR) who have made a real difference across the faculty with the Bartlett Mid-Career Researcher Awards 2026.
These annual awards celebrate the achievements of mid-career researchers who go above and beyond in their research, mentoring, and community engagement. MCRs play a vital role in sustaining the Bartlett’s world-class research environment, and these awards highlight their dedication and impact across the faculty.
This year’s awards include five categories:
- Outstanding Line Manager Award – recognising exceptional leadership that enhances personal and professional development.
- Mentorship Award – for individuals who generously share their expertise and guidance to support others’ growth.
- Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Award – honouring efforts to embed and champion EDI practices within research, projects, or the wider Bartlett community.
- Outreach and Communication Award – for innovative and inspiring public engagement that brings UCL research to life beyond academia.
- Community Award – acknowledging those who go the extra mile to strengthen collaboration, connection, and goodwill within or beyond UCL.
Each category winner will receive a £150 Love2Shop e-voucher, with up to two awards available per category depending on the quality of nominations received.
Eligibility
The awards are open to all Mid-Career Researchers within the Bartlett Faculty, defined as staff who have worked in research or academia for seven to fifteen years post-PhD (career breaks will be considered). This includes research staff, teaching staff, and PhD supervisors. Research managers, support staff, and visiting researchers are not eligible.
Assessment
Nominations will be reviewed by a diverse Faculty panel comprising members of the Bartlett Reviewer Panel Bank, senior researchers, and the Research & Impact team. Nominations should be written for a general audience and clearly demonstrate the nominee’s impact.
How to nominate
Submit your nomination via the online form by Friday 15 May 2026, 4pm (BST). Late submissions cannot be accepted. Award winners will be announced by the end of May.
