Congratulations to Bartlett School of Architecture alumna, Shivani Shah (Situated Practice MA, 2018) on winning the Lisbon Architecture Triennale Début Award 2025 with her practice ReSa Architects, co-founded with Revati Shah.
The Début Award celebrates emerging practices demonstrating innovation, critical inquiry and social relevance. Based in India, ReSa Architects approaches architecture as a collective and participatory process, exploring how space-making can reframe social and bodily relations.
I feel deeply grateful to the Situated Practice course and the teaching as that has directly shaped the direction of the practice and offered the tools to create this work.
The announcement was made on 4 October 2025 during the opening of the Lisbon Architecture Triennale. The Lisbon Architecture Triennale Awards promote transformative architectural practice across three categories – Achievement, Début and Universities – recognising work that advances architectural thinking from academia to professional practice.
Previous Début Award winners include Vão (Brazil, 2022), Bonell+Dòriga (Spain, 2019), Umwelt (Chile, 2016) and Bureau Spectacular (USA, 2013). The 2025 jury comprised architects Inês Lobo, Lígia Nobre, Samia Henni, Sandi Hilal and Yuma Shinohara.
