The UCL Open Science and Scholarship Awards are a joint programme between the UCL Office for Open Science and Scholarship (OOSS) and the local network chapter of UKRN, the UK Reproducibility Network. They seek to highlight exceptional areas of practice and support for Open Science across the UCL community.
Donygi Ma, who is a PhD student in CASA’s Connected Environments Lab, was recognised in the Enhancing Open Science and Reproducibility Capacity in the Academic Community category, which is open to academic staff (including post-docs) and PhD students.
Dongyi was also the People’s Choice Winner in the recent The Bartlett Invents! Entrepreneurial competition and showcase, securing £3,000 in funding for her research. Her research is focused on the design and build of Internet of Things sensor systems that measure and communicate urban heat islands and urban microclimates, for input into urban policy and climate planning.
Earlier this year, Dongyi also introduced HRH The Princess Royal to some of the sensor technology in UCL People and Nature Lab Garden during the Princess’s visit to UCL East.
