'Bridges for Ukraine, Accelerating Opportunities for Reconstructing Ukraine’ highlights the key role of entrepreneurial partnerships in reconstructing a post-conflict Ukraine. The project promotes knowledge and skills exchange between thought leaders, emerging businesses and scalable financing mechanisms, with the shared goal of rebuilding a Ukraine that is fit for the challenges of our planet’s future. The guiding principle is that Ukrainians must lead the design and delivery of their country’s recovery; but global partnerships can support this mission.
Working in collaboration with the UK Department for Business and Trade and Fast Forward 2030, the IGP will publish a White Paper this summer showcasing innovative and practical ideas for reconstruction. Contributions will include leading voices from the UK and Ukraine across sectors including housing, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and energy.
In the face of immense suffering and destruction, it is the resilience and voices of Ukraine’s citizens that hold the true power to rebuild and redefine the nation’s future. – Henrietta Moore, Director the Institute for Global prosperity
In the first of a series of collaborative outputs from the project, the IGP recently brought the valuable perspectives of a number of leading academics and innovative enterprises from across Ukraine and the UK together in a timely and engaging roundtable discussion at UCL The group shared perspectives on the role of citizens in rebuilding cities and neighbourhoods; how nature-based solutions and digitisation can shape regenerative and resilient design; and creating financing models that value long-term resilience over short-term return. Orysia Lutsevych OBE, Head of the Ukraine Forum at Chatham House, emphasised the crucial role of civil society:
Ukrainian civil society is not just the watchdog of rebuilding, it is also a sledgedog. So when Trump said that Ukraine has no cards to play to end the war with Russia, local community leaders responded – they are the most important card Zelenskyy has.
Upcoming engagements for the project include a feature at the 2025 Ukraine Recovery Conference in Rome in July and a panel talk at the London Design Biennale at Somerset House on Monday, 9th June.
The initiative supports IGP’s mission to redefine prosperity for both people and the planet, with a particular focus on the role Ukrainians play in shaping and implementing the reconstruction of Ukraine. Global partnerships can contribute positively to addressing this significant challenge. The project is being carried out under the umbrella of Fast Forward 2030, a network of entrepreneurs and changemakers.
