Celebrating record numbers for The Bartlett’s Outreach Initiatives
20 January 2025
The first term of The Bartlett’s 2024/5 Outreach programme has successfully worked with over 1,200 students in three months alone across a variety of events aimed at inspiring the next generation of built environment professionals.

The initiatives included regional school visits, career fairs, open application days, and online sessions, impacting UK students from Year 9 to Year 13.
The Outreach programme wasn’t limited to London, with schools across Birmingham, Durham, and Milton Keynes also participating. Over 520 students from these regions had the opportunity to engage with Bartlett representatives, learning more about careers spanning the built environment sector.
A participating teacher from Bordesley Green Girls School Birmingham praised the visit, saying: "Thank you so much for your visit. The girls really enjoyed the session and took a lot away from the morning and some are keen to find out more about the courses on offer at the Bartlett Faculty and considering it seriously. It is very good to see them enthused.”
In addition to these events, The Bartlett hosted Discovery Days in Planning and Sustainable Construction. Survey feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive, with 100% of students agreeing that the events were engaging and helped increase their confidence about applying to university.
Online workshops were also offered on various aspects of the architecture application process, including writing personal statements and portfolio reviews and workshops. These sessions, with a combined attendance of over 250 students, received high praise for their informative content and clear answers to students' questions.
Desart Ismaili, Bartlett Outreach Manager said: “Our overall feedback from both staff and students has been that The Bartlett’s diverse events have played a significant role in inspiring students to consider careers in the built environment and piercing the veil of general misconceptions in the industry. With over 1,200 students engaged in these activities, The Bartlett continues to foster aspirations in the fields of architecture, planning, development and construction, ensuring that students from all backgrounds have the information and confidence to pursue higher education.
