The Bartlett at The World Urban Forum 2024

The Bartlett UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment is set to have an impactful presence at the World Urban Forum in Cairo, Egypt from the 4th to the 8th of November.
The preeminent global conference on sustainable urbanisation, convened every two years by UN-Habitat is happening in Cairo from the 4th to the 8th of November, at the Egypt International Exhibition Centre. The Bartlett UCL’s Faculty of the Built Environment will be fully involved across training workshops, exchange events and high-level dialogues.
The theme of WUF12 ‘It All Starts at Home: Local Actions for Sustainable Cities and Communities’ closely aligns with the research and teaching themes of the faculty. Delegates from the Development Planning Unit and the Bartlett School of Planning will be in attendance in person and virtually. Staff from the Bartlett will share their work, and run events with urban practitioners, governance actors and civil society organisations from across the world.
The Bartlett will additionally have a presence at the Habitat Village exhibition stall, a collective space involving a unique consortium of partners, spanning civil society organizations, academic institutions, and grassroots movements, committed to advancing just, equitable, and sustainable cities. Partners include amongst others: Habitat International Coalition, the Global Platform for the Right to the City, the Bartlett Development Planning Unit (UCL), the Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment (UCL), World Habitat and Slum Dwellers International. It is coordinated by the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED).
Colleagues from The Bartlett Development Planning Unit (DPU) will be involved in an extensive series of sessions. A highlight of which will be the 70th year celebration of the DPU, involving current staff and numerous DPU alumni. Similarly, colleagues from The Bartlett School of Planning (BSP) will be representing and sharing their work across multiple sessions.
