Fully funded 4-year EPSRC PhD studentships available through open competition

• 4 years fees (home rate)
• Stipend at the UCL EPSRC DTP enhanced rate (£19,062 in 2022/23, rises with inflation each year)
• Research Training Support Grant of £4,800 (to cover additional costs of training e.g. courses, project costs, conferences, travel)

Successful international students will also receive a UCL tuition fee support award to cover the additional overseas fees. Applications for part-time study (minimum 50% full-time equivalent) are welcomed – stipend payment and duration will be adjusted pro-rata.

The UCL EPSRC DTP has fully funded 4 year studentships available for study at UCL through an open competition.

You can apply for MPhil/PhD, MRes + PhD (1+ 3), or EngD programmes in any relevant UCL Department. Studentship projects must lie within the EPSRC Themes and Research Areas – which include topics such as Manufacturing the Future, Healthcare Technologies, Digital Economy and many more topics within Engineering, Physical Sciences, and Mathematical Sciences.

The Bartlett School of Environment, Energy and Resources is participating, with applications welcome for Sustainable Heritage MPhil/PhD, Sustainable Resources MPhil/PhD, Energy MPhil/PhD and Environmental Design and Engineering MPhil/PhD. The full list of participating UCL departments is available on the UCL EPSRC DTP website.

Studentships are expected to start on 26th September 2022 unless exceptional circumstances require an alternate start date.

Students will be initially registered for 4 years (or pro-rata equivalent for part-time students) and are expected to submit their thesis within this period.

Eligibility

Successful applicants must fulfil the academic entry requirements for the programme they are applying for. Further eligibility criteria are based on nationality and residence, see EPSRC regulations on Student eligibility.

These studentships are open to those with Home and International fee status (including EU); however, the number of students with International fee status which can be recruited is capped according to the EPSRC terms and conditions.

We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic candidates, who are currently under-represented within UCL at this level.
