The four-year programme combines the major disciplines of architecture and engineering of the built environment, preparing graduates to be future industry leaders.
Engineering & Architectural Design MEng was designed in collaboration with leading practitioners across the built environment and engineering industries, and sees students working across the school’s Bloomsbury and Here East campuses, with access to its state-of-the-art B-made workshop facilities.
Its accreditation reflects its multidisciplinary nature; the programme has already been accredited by CIBSE (Chartered Institute of Building Service Engineering) and Part 1 stage for RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects).
The Architects Registration Board is the third organisation to officially recognise the programme; the professional regulator, established in 1997, is a statutory body that oversees who can practise as an architect and governs the standards of conduct and practice throughout the profession.
Luke Olsen, the programme director, commented:
We are delighted the MEng Engineering & Architectural Design programme has gained ARB (Part 1) accreditation, also post-dated so our first pioneering graduates in 2021 and onwards are recognized as architects at part 1 level. With CIBSE and RIBA (Part 1) also on board, this is a significant step toward achieving quality integrated design of the built environment."
The school is also actively seeking accreditation from JBM (Joint Board of Moderators), to cement the programme’s Civil Engineering status and make it one of the first programmes of its kind to offer quadruple accreditation.
