BSSC gets historic approval for MBA Major Infrastructure and MSci Construction Project Management

The first is a new MBA in Major Infrastructure Delivery. This is the first MBA in Infrastructure in the world and along with one approved at the same time for the Global Business School for the Health, is among the first two sectoral MBAs at UCL after the merger with the Institute of Education.

The external scrutineer of the degree, Professor Will Goetzmann, Beinecke Professor of Finance and Management Studies and at the Yale School of Management, said: “this is an excellent plan for an MBA program in the field of infrastructure. It meets an important, and I believe, largely unmet need for learning about, and preparing for leadership in organizations that are absolutely vital to social progress. Throughout history, the success of large-scale, transformative infrastructure development has depended as much upon management capability as technical know-how. Modern, large-scale infrastructure management requires a wide range of knowledge and competencies; some of which are fundamental management skills and others evolve with technological innovation and geopolitical events.”

Professor D’Maris Coffman, School Director, said: “we are thrilled to have approval to advertise this course and look forward to welcoming the first cohort of students to what we are certain will become the world-leading credential in this area. As Head of Department, I could not be prouder of Programme Leader, Dr Juliano Denicol for this achievement.”

BSSC has also acquired approval for our new MSci Construction Project Management which is the first integrated master’s programme in construction project management in the UK. It replaces the school’s previous undergraduate programme and will offer our new cohort of undergraduate students access to our award-winning MSc curriculum as part of their MSci degrees and will be led by Dr Abdul-Majeed Mahamdu from the University of West England. He will be the programme’s first course director.

This new MSci fulfils that demand and satisfies the requirements of organisations, companies and graduates in providing a more current and broader knowledge of our industry. Professor D’Maris Coffman said: “Professor Jacqui Glass and I are pleased to have secured approval from PMAP in a record-breaking nine months and both believe this will become the industry defining credential in the field. It will equip students to become industry leaders, deal with challenges, and build the future in an environmentally, socially, and economically sustainable fashion.”
