Spotlight on graduate Peter Nsubi Sarpong

Peter’s educational background was in Philosophy and Psychology with a Master's in Global Diplomacy. Before starting the Sustainable Resources: Economics, Policy and Transitions MSc he had seven years of experience leading various awarding-winning sustainability and responsibility projects for a fast-moving consumer goods business.

Since graduating in 2021, Peter has worked as a Programme and Teaching Assistant at the Sustainable Resources: Economics, Policy and Transitions MSc, “I have helped other students bridge the gap between theory and practice”. He is now a Senior Consultant at one of the big four global consulting firms, he believes that the SR:EPT MSc has provided him with valuable skills to use in his current role:

Peter’s advice for getting the most out of the MSc and for future Sustainable Resources: Economics, Policy and Transitions MSc graduates is:

• Others have gone before you, so tap into their experience. Then, connect with them via social media.
• Feel free to challenge perspectives - there are various tools to help you do that online or in-class. - Make discussions a primary tool for sharing knowledge after class.
• You are unique, so identify your strengths and learn to improve your challenging areas. - Don't make it all about the classroom - it's only a year. The friends you find could be for life.
• Job hunt as a pack (share how you approach it and contacts where a colleague has gone ahead of you).
• You may not finish reading all the recommended and essential readings, but it makes it easier if you share the load. 
• You have some of the finest minds in the Institute. Work with them.
