Nahim has been working with the disadvantaged members of his community over the past decade and received the British Citizen Award in the Arts from the House of Lords, which signifies his commitment and work with young people.
Throughout the pandemic, Nahim and his team have continued to do ‘detached’ youth work – engaging with young people in unconventional settings. This work contributed heavily on Poplar HARCA forming a consortium (partnering up with two smaller organisations) and the Mayor of London (Violence Reduction Unit) awarding them £750k to tackle youth violence in the Isle of Dogs. Nahim commented: “Dr Efrosyni Konstantinou - my current professor at UCL, has been instrumental behind the scenes in teaching and supporting me on how my philosophy shapes projects to serve the marginalised communities I work with and work towards creating self-sustaining projects that will have a positive impact for the generations to come.”
