This programme broadened my horizons, deepened my understanding of relevant industry standard’s such as WELL, LEED and BREEAM, and helped me learn how to monitor and simulate the built environment. When I was looking for job opportunities, my master's degree and the knowledge I learned interested many recruiters. I received several interview invitations from China and the UK by updating my CV on LinkedIn and other job sites. I finally chose a job that can utilise my multidisciplinary backgrounds.

Health and Wellbeing in Cities: Theory and Practice was my favourite module on the Masters. The case study visits and practical teaching gave us an understanding of urban health connections and wellbeing at neighbourhood and urban scale. The module coursework allowed students with different academic backgrounds in different programmes to work together, helping us learn from a range of different professional perspectives.

I would like to tell students who have multidisciplinary backgrounds like me, that although they may encounter challenges when studying for the HWSB degree, they will also discover many opportunities when looking for a job. The COVID-19 pandemic has made the construction industry more concerned about the health and wellbeing of the built environment, and increased demand for professionals in this field. Please pay more attention to the information relating to the healthy building industry, network with professionals in the field and expand your social circle as early as you can.”
