IIPP's Rethinking Capitalism module: Policy-maker places available

The course will provide attendees with a critical perspective on the ‘grand-challenges’ facing modern economies including falling productivity, investment and living standards, widening inequality, financial instability and the growing threat of climate change. 

The course combines academic lectures from some of the world’s leading new economic thinkers with policy lectures from leading policy makers and influencers.  2021’s confirmed guest lecturers include Ha-Joon Chang, Stephanie Kelton, Carlota Perez, Eric Beinhocker, Andy Haldane, Jayati Ghosh, Dimitri Zenghelis and Francesca Bria along with IIPP staff, Mariana Mazzucato (Director of IIPP), Rainer Kattel and co-convenors Antonio Andreoni and Josh Ryan-Collins.  

The module will help students develop their critical thinking and make the connections between economic theory and real-world policy issues. It will provide an introduction to a range of different economics perspectives, including Neoclassical, post-Keynesian, ecological, evolutionary, Marxist, Development and institutional economics theories and how their different assumptions link to different public policies.

Policy-makers can choose to attend the lectures alone or also join a weekly seminar held by either Antonio Andreoni or Josh Ryan-Collins, the course convenors.

Fees

• £395 for lecture attendance only
• £495 for lecture and seminar attendance
