Dr Sonn and his local partner, Professor Zhigang Li (Wuhan University, China), will use the grant to fully finance a 3 day writing workshop on regional development and migration at Wuhan University in 2021. The workshop will offer opportunities for 30 early career researchers from the UK and China to receive writing and publication advice from the two organisers and four other experienced academics.
Researcher Links provides researchers with travel grants and funding for workshops. The British Council runs Researcher Links in partnership with research and higher education institutions in selected partner countries around the world. Dr Sonn’s Researcher Link is delivered under the Newton Fund, which builds research and innovation partnerships with partner countries to support their economic development and social welfare, and to develop their research and innovation capacity for long-term sustainable growth.
