As well as building up a highly impressive portfolio of research projects, Paul has spearheaded the policy application use of the UK TIMES energy systems model, fully embedding this high profile tool into the UK government (BEIS) as well as working with other key policy and industrial stakeholders (Scottish Government, CCC, National Grid, International Energy Agency etc).

Catalina has built up the Islands Laboratory into a hugely exciting initiative with global reach. Working on the specific challenges (and opportunities) for Islands to transition to decarbonised energy systems and more broadly a more circular economy. She will be the first female professor at UCL Energy Institute, serving as a role model to many of our staff.

This recognises Lynette's internationally ground-breaking research on aviation modelling (including the open-source AIM2015 model), which directly tackles interdisciplinary issues in the aviation sector, notoriously one of the most difficult sectors to decarbonise.

Lorenzo has led our Economics and Policy of Energy and the Environment MSc to be a spectacularly successful Masters programme that continues to grow - this promotion illustrates how UCL recognises and values leadership in our teaching programmes.
