To tackle the climate crisis we need a new, sustainable, relationship between the ways we produce and consume energy. The application of smart energy in our buildings, towns and cities is central to this transformation with the power to cut carbon emissions, whilst controlling costs and ensuring the resilience and security of supply.
Highly skilled specialists with a deep understanding of the nature of energy demand in the built environment - the largest end-use sector for global energy demand – are required to lead this transformation. Our new interdisciplinary Smart Energy and the Built Environment (SEBE) MSc will provide students with the knowledge, technical and workplace skills to work at the forefront of this energy revolution.
The cutting-edge SEBE programme will give students an in-depth understanding of the energy system, its smart, flexible operation, and the role of the built environment. Students will learn the interdisciplinary skills needed to design and commission smart energy systems with novel strategies to manage energy demand, including the latest low carbon technologies and integration of generation and storage into the fabric of the built environment. Students will gain interdisciplinary skills in modelling, statistics and data analytics, social sciences, and business to address the real challenges we face in creating a sustainable energy system.

This interdisciplinary MSc will give you the skills and insights to help implement solutions to this critical issue.
