Duties and responsibilities
The UCL Energy Institute delivers world-leading learning, research and policy support on the challenges of climate change and energy security.
The post-holder will be working for the Smart Energy Research Lab (formerly Smart Meter Research Portal) and the Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS).
The main purpose of this role is to undertake research data management and data governance activities and develop a range of data analysis, data quality, data linking and other data management processes to ensure SERL and CREDS data are research-ready and fit for purpose and are managed appropriately throughout the data lifecycle.
The role is funded for 24 months in the first instance; further funding to support the post may be available.

Key Requirements
The post-holder will have a first degree in a discipline relevant to research data management and a post-graduate degree or equivalent relevant experience (including relevant experience in non-academic organizations).
Expertise in managing large and/or complex databases, a detailed understanding of research data management procedures relevant to handling personal data and a detailed understanding of data governance and related issues including (including GDPR, Research ethics) are required.
Experience of developing and implementing research data management protocols; development and implementation of data governance procedures and a history of successful collaboration with other teams or institutions is essential.
A broad knowledge of current research in the energy sector and research methods relevant to smart meter data and related energy and energy demand datasets would be desirable, as would an understanding of the concepts and principles of data modelling, and an ability to develop, maintain and update relevant data models for the Smart Energy Research Lab project.
