‘(Un)Urban: Designing for the Green City’ is a two week summer programme ran by the IGP as part of the Global Citizenship Programme. We work with undergraduate students from across different disciplines to design a greener, healthier city.
Cities can be places of innovation and creativity. But they can also lead to poor mental and physical health, environmental damage, and extreme inequality. As more and more people move to cities, we need to develop ways of making cities more sustainable and inclusive places where people can flourish. We urgently need to connect urban growth, environmental health and human wellbeing – and to create green cities that benefit everyone.
With high levels of regeneration, but also inequality, East London is an area where theses themes intersect. Based in the diverse and rapidly changing site of Hackney Wick & Fish Island in East London, (Un)Urban grapples with these themes by working with local organisations on a local urban challenge – and developing creative solutions to a problem set by the organisation.
We are looking for a team of navigators to accompany groups of students as they do the (Un)Urban programme.
The programme takes place from the 29th May-8th June 2018.
The deadline for submissions is April 15th 2018.
