Dartmouth Park House, designed by Professor Yeoryia Manolopoulou’s practice AY Architects, has been shortlisted for the Stephen Lawrence Prize. The prize, which AY Architects won in 2013, is awarded annually to the best new project in the UK with a construction cost of under £1million. Dartmouth Park House is also a contender for the RIBA House of the Year Award, having earned the RIBA Regional Award for London.

AY Architects’ project significantly remodels and extends an end-of-terrace Victorian building in Dartmouth Park Conservation Area. It creates a contemporary, airy and bright family home by enhancing the building’s original features and improving areas that had been poorly altered over time. Maximising sunlight even in the basement, the house has been praised by the RIBA jury as ‘a very successful reinvention of the Victorian house’.
