Bartlett PhD student Ifi Liangi has been awarded third prize in the annual ‘Fairy Tales’ competition at the National Building Museum in Washington.
Ifi's work ‘The Paper Moon’ is a piece of architectural storytelling about Athens. In the form of a fairy tale, Ifi creates magical and critical architecture that conveys messages about the socio-political and economic crises of the Greek capital.
The competition, run by Blank Space, received creative projects from 65 countries and enlisted a jury of more than 20 leading architects, designers and storytellers to select its winning submissions.
In praise of this year’s entries, Francesca Guiliani, Co-Founder of Blank Space, said:
The competition has become a repository for the social and environmental issues that are at the forefront of architects’ minds and captures the most pressing themes in highly imaginative and sometimes provocative ways.
