Dr Evangelia Chrysikou has been recognised by the International Academy for Design & Health (IADH) for her research project The Social Logic of Psychiatric Spaces. Taking place in Vienna earlier this summer, the awards ceremony was held in collaboration with the Austrian Ministry of Health and Women’s Affairs.
Dr Chrysikou was presented with her award by the President of the IADH whilst in the company of several international Ministers of Health and representatives of the World Health Organisation.
Her award-winning project explores how the built environment influences the personal and social aspects of psychiatric spaces, as well as identifying the environmental needs of mental health patients.
The research was conducted at The Bartlett under the mentorship of the faculty’s Dean, Professor Alan Penn, and was funded by the European Commission as a two-year Marie Curie Individual Fellowship programme.
