The Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL has taken second place in the QS World University Rankings 2016 for Architecture, coming second to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and topping the list of UK universities, affirming its status as UCL’s world-leading centre for education and research in architecture.

Put together by Higher Education data specialists QS, the rankings are based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact. It is the second year in a row that The Bartlett has claimed the number two spot, this year outscoring MIT for citations, and research impact. The top five institutions also included the University of California Berkeley, Delft University of Technology and Harvard.

The announcement comes ahead of the School’s major international conference aae2016 with the Association of Architectural Educators on ‘Research-based Education’, which brings together global innovators in education, research and practice to interrogate and discuss the future of architectural education. The conference, which takes place on 7 – 9 April, is part of a special programme of events celebrating 175 years of architectural education at UCL.
