  • Professor Andrew Hudson-Smith Awarded the Wang Zhizhuo Medal

Professor Andrew Hudson-Smith of The Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis (CASA) has been awarded the Wang Zhizhuo Award for innovation in spatial information sciences.

The Wang Zhizhuo Award, sponsored by The Chinese Society of Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography (CSGPC), consists of a medal and a monetary grant (SFr. 2,500). It is granted at each quadrennial International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Congress. The Congress, this year held in Prague, attracts over 6000 participants, making it one of the largest conferences in the spatial information field.

The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing recognizes individual accomplishments through the sponsorship of awards. The Chinese Society of Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography (CSGPC) decided in 2004 to present a periodic award for encouraging advancement of the spatial information sciences in memory of Prof. Dr. WANG Zhizhuo initiator of photogrammetry and remote sensing in China, Professor and Honorary President of Wuhan Technical University of Surveying and Mapping, a senior Academician of the Chinese Academy of Science, and elected Honorary Member of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) in 1988.
