  • The Bartlett School of Planning Receives Green Impact Platinum Award

The Bartlett School of Planning has received a Platinum award at the annual UCL Green Impact Awards in recognition of its efforts in creating a more sustainable UCL. These include a new Green Policy for Planning staff and students and a Green Strategy for the School, as well as a fun competition to encourage people to climb the stairs of Central House instead of taking the lift.

Green Impact is an annual programme that empowers staff and students to improve their department’s environmental performance, save money and improve the sustainability literacy of their peers and colleagues. The Platinum award is the highest level of achievement which can be attained under the Green Impact scheme.

Professor Anthony Smith, UCL’s Vice-Provost (Education & Student Affairs) presented the award to the School of Planning’s Green Champion Naomi Jones at a ceremony in the Japanese Garden Pavilion on Tuesday 15th September. Professor Smith commended the teams on their achievement, giving “a huge thank you to everyone involved, and to the Sustainability Team for finding ways to bring these important issues to life”.

The Bartlett School of Planning wishes to continue with this programme for 2015-16, with the intention of improving and expanding its efforts. Any Planning staff or students interested in taking part should contact Naomi on n.jones@ucl.ac.uk.
