  • MSc Smart Cities now with RTPI accreditation

A separate new route with RTPI accreditation is now available on our MSc Smart Cities and Urban Analytics programme, starting September 2015.

The RTPI accredited specialist Masters degree integrates two core planning modules into the programme structure, both of which are delivered by the Bartlett School of Planning.

The full programme structure for the new RTPI route is as follows:

  • Urban Design: Place-making (15 credits)
  • Planning Practice (15 credits)
  • Urban Systems Theory (15 credits)
  • Quantitative Methods (15 credits)
  • Geographic Information Systems and Science (15 credits)
  • Smart Cites: Context, Policy and Government (15 credits)
  • Spatial Data Capture, Storage and Analysis (30 credits)
  • Dissertation (60 credits)

This RTPI accredited route is available to applicants who hold a degree in planning already approved by the RTPI as the first 3 years of an accredited 3+1 programme.

To apply for this course, applicants just need to select MSc Smart Cities and Urban Analytics (course code TMSARCSSCU01) from the UCL online admissions system, and then when starting the course opt for the RTPI programme route when making module selections.

The existing route is still available for those not seeking RTPI accreditation and consists of the following modules:

  • Urban Simulation (15 credits)
  • Urban Systems Theory (15 credits)
  • Quantitative Methods (15 credits)
  • Geographic Information Systems and Science (15 credits)
  • Smart Cites: Context, Policy and Government (15 credits)
  • Spatial Data Capture, Storage and Analysis (30 credits)
  • An optional Masters level module (15 credits)
  • Dissertation (60 credits)
