Former Bartlett School of Planning student Ginny Duffell has been recognised by the Royal Town Planning Institute for the exceptional quality of her submission for Chartered Membership through the Assessment of Professional Competence (ACP) in 2014.

Ginny was among only three candidates selected for a commendation based on the calibre of their APC submission. Over 400 candidates submit their APC each year, so it is a major achievement to be in this top group. These commended candidates are on the pathway to becoming exceptional planners and making a significant contribution to the community and the profession.

This accolade not only recognises Ginny's achievement, but also gives her the chance to provide advice and serve as an inspiration to other candidates going through the APC.

Read more about Ginny Duffell's achievement and her advice for future APC candidates.

Having graduated from UCL in 1997 with a Diploma in Town and Country Planning, Ginny Duffell now works as a Development Control Officer for the States of Jersey.

The Assessment of Professional Competence

Graduate planners must complete the RTPI's Assessment of Professional Competence in order to achieve the designation Chartered Town Planner.

The Assessment of Professional Competence combines a minimum of 24 months' professional planning experience with a fully RTPI accredited degree. This ensures graduate planners achieve, and can demonstrate, a professional level of learning and competency outcomes.

Candidates produce a written submission  demonstrating their experience and how they have developed their competence as a professional planner.  The RTPI recognises  APC candidates whose excellent submissions are nominated for commendation by their assessors.
