The Annual CASA prize award in memory of Sinesio Alves Junior for the best research paper was presented at GISRUK 2012 held at Lancaster University on 13th April 2012. Mike Batty is here presenting the award to Suzanne Mavoa from the Melbourne School of Population Health, The University of Melbourne, for her paper (with Melody Oliver, Nicola Tavae and Karen Witten) “Using GIS to integrate children’s walking interview data and objectively physical activity data”.

Sinesio Alves Junior (or Junior as he was affectionately known) was a doctoral researcher and staff member at CASA from 2001.  He was very popular, always cheerful and is greatly missed.
