About UCL Institute for Global Prosperity
IGP is redesigning prosperity for the 21st century, changing the way we conceive and run our economies, and reworking our relationship with the planet. Our vision is to build a prosperous, sustainable, global future, underpinned by the principles of fairness and justice, and allied to a realistic, long-term vision of humanity's place in the world.
The IGP undertakes pioneering research that seeks to dramatically improve the quality of life for this and future generations. Its strength lies in the way it allies intellectual creativity to effective collaboration and policy development. Of particular importance to the IGP’s approach is the way in which it integrates non-academic expertise into its knowledge generation by engaging with governments, policy makers, business, civil society, and local communities.
The Institute is led by Professor Henrietta L. Moore. A leading global thinker on prosperity, Professor Moore challenges traditional economic models of growth arguing that to flourish communities, businesses and governments need to engage with diversity and work within environmental limits. Her work crosses disciplines, from social science to the arts to business innovation and she applies these different perspectives to inform research and policy at all levels.
IGP is part of The Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, the QS World University Rankings (2022) places The Bartlett, as the #1 for Built Environment studies in the UK and #3 in the World. Contact: igp@ucl.ac.uk

Student Testimonials
“The Global Prosperity MSc allowed me to understand global challenges in a critical way,
to rethink problems based on new alternatives and inclusive research methods and to
experience, from IGP projects, how solutions can be addressed under real-world
conditions. The debate and conversation were beyond the classroom, with teaching staff
always keen to listen and encourage students’ ideas on transformation.
Silvia Velasco Arellano, Global Prosperity MSc Student (2019-20)
“My experience of the MSc Global Prosperity programme was nothing less than
outstanding. Apart from the multiplicity of seminars and workshops I was exposed to, the
programme was rigorous, flexible and allowed for a multidisciplinary approach which
meant I was able to pursue different academic interests. On one hand, I was conducting
research on fintech and financialization, and on the other, I was learning about how social
innovation labs could be adapted as impact tools for people and society. The Global
Prosperity MSc has taught me things that will remain with me for the rest of my life.
Shuaib Jalal-Eddeen. Global Prosperity MSc Student (2019-20)
Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme Student
As a graduate of the inaugural MSc Prosperity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (PIE) programme, I look back on the year with immense pride. As someone who has progressed through each stage of education without a break, the course presented an opportunity to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in the growing social sector. Alongside several internal innovation projects, I also had space to complete three internships that complemented my studies. The year was capped by a final collaborative project with a major London-based charity, which PIE had provided the tools and leverage to make it a success. Overall, an invaluable year-long experience.
