Understanding the land-water-food nexus in Elgeyo-Marakwet

We seek to build a comprehensive picture of how communities in two linked, but environmentally contrasting, locales have managed resources over time. 

The research combines botanical, ethnographic, archaeological and ecological methods to research changing climate, water availability, deforestation, land degradation, and biodiversity loss in the forested Cherangani Hills and the semi-arid Kerio Valley.

This research is particularly interested in how such transformations relate to food and water security, eco-system services and health and wellbeing.
