Completing a Research Degree (MPhil/PhD) at the Institute for Global Prosperity

The Institute for Global Prosperity (IGP) at UCL is now accepting applications for admission to its MPhil/PhD programme in September 2020. We welcome expressions of interest from anyone whose passions mesh with research being conducted by our pool of supervisors:

PhD Supervisors
Dr Samer Abdelnour’s current research examines enterprise and humanitarian technology intervention in contexts of poverty and violence. He also works on international standards and global health policy. He is interested in supervising PhD research projects that critically examine topics related to community and social enterprise, international organizations, international standards, organization theory, and digital/feminist/participatory methods.

Dr Matthew Davies' current research explores the intersection between social and natural prosperity with particular focus in Eastern Africa. He is interested in supervising PhD projects that examine issues of climate, sustainability, resilience, land, resources, food, prosperity metrics, citizen science, heritage and material practices.

Dr Christopher Harker's current research in Palestine and the UK adopts a geographical approach to examine how people craft liveable lives. He is interested in supervising PhD research projects that critically examine topics related to debt, finance and prosperity.

Professor Jacqueline McGlade’s research is focussed on the science policy diplomacy interface in the fields of environment, sustainable development and open government. She is interested in supervising PhD projects looking at the role of community science and open data in improving policy making in the fields of pollution and health.

Dr Konrad Miciukiewicz’s research looks at the interplays between urban regeneration, creative economy, social inclusion and the democratic public realm. He’s interested in supervising PhD projects examining prosperous urban futures, including the future of work, sustainable mobility, and urban innovation through art and technology.

Research at the Institute for Global Prosperity aims to generate new insights about sustainable and inclusive prosperity. We have a thriving doctoral community. • A research proposal (max. 2,000 words).
• One paragraph outlining which IGP staff member could supervise this research, and why they would be a good fit (max 250 words).
• One paragraph on how your planned project fits the IGP’s thematic interests (max. 250 words).
• A short CV (max 2 pages)
