Recruitment

Inclusive Recruitment and Admissions

The Institute for Global Prosperity’s (IGP) commitment to working towards social justice in an intersectional manner includes the IGP team, our student body, and our collaborators. We therefore strive to continually improve our staff recruitment and admissions practices with regard to equality, diversity and inclusion principles.

As part of these efforts, IGP offers two partial scholarships to enable UK-domiciled students from under-represented backgrounds to pursue their Masters studies. Read more information about the IGP Equity Fund.

IGP’s BAME Research Internship Scheme is aimed at postgraduate students with an interest in making a difference in research, data analysis, communication & public policy analysis and from backgrounds currently under-represented in research and policy making. Scholarship Student Spotlights

Hear from some of the recipients of our scholarships below.

"Coming from India with limited financial resources, receiving a scholarship from UCL and IGP was an invaluable opportunity. It allowed me to experience the UK and benefit from a world-class education. The diverse class environment, balanced curriculum focusing on both theoretical concepts and practical group projects, and the wide range of electives were truly enriching."

Luong Me, 23-24 MSc GP, Chevening Scholarship Holder

"Receiving the Chevening Scholarship to join the Master's programme in Global Prosperity is an incredible privilege. I still remember the overwhelming excitement when I received both the scholarship result from Chevening and the admission result from UCL. This marked the beginning of a truly eye-opening journey which, as my supervisor often described his module, was 'challenging but very much worthwhile.'

My time at IGP was demanding, filled with rigorous topics and extensive reading materials, yet immensely rewarding. I gained invaluable insights and knowledge from the fascinating modules. This experience not only deepened my understanding of the social innovation work I am passionate about but also helped me discover more about myself, my own concept of prosperity, and the values I believe in.

None of these experiences would have been possible without the IGP community. My friends were supportive and kind, making our time together memorable. My lecturers were confident in their expertise, and most importantly, I saw their passion when they shared their knowledge with us. That’s what truly inspired me.

I am confident that IGP has what it takes to continue enhancing the programme and to nurture future generations of thoughtful changemakers."

Maureen Muthike, 23-24 PIE MSc, Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Holder

"Applying for the scholarship was surprisingly easy and completely worth it. The support I received through the scholarship made a huge difference, allowing me to focus on my studies without financial stress. I would encourage all prospective students to apply, especially those from Africa. My time at the IGP has been amazing, filled with great learning experiences and networking opportunities, which have provided me with a supportive community. It has been a life changing opportunity as it has expanded my horizons both professionally and socially. It could be a game-changer for you, just as it was for me!"

Rafael Nemes, 23-35 PPP MSc, UCL East Scholarship Holder

Rafael Nemes stands against a beige wall, wearing a black polo neck and has short dark wavy hair.

“I was hesitant to pursue postgraduate studies following my time at Warwick and I was ready to decline my offer at UCL purely because of costs. When I stumbled upon the East London scholarship, I decided to try my luck and apply! The process was very smooth and easy, and I was extremely happy to find out that I have been shortlisted as one of the Greenwich Borough applicants! I am extremely grateful for this opportunity and for being able to continue my passion for sustainability.”

"It has been both rewarding and fulfilling embarking on the MSc PIE Programme at the IGP as a Commonwealth Scholar. I was inspired, supported and equipped in more ways than one and I am confident that I now have a lot to offer to the world. As I go on to take up the next challenge in my career, IGP will definitely be proud of the impacts I will be bringing to my organization consequent upon what I have gained and taken from the programme."
